I am extremely pleased with the renovation that Riverside Construction recently did for me.  The quality of workmanship of the lead carpenter (Joey) and all of the sub-contracted trades was remarkable.  My project involved the complete rebuilding of the second floor of my home.  This included all new flooring; taking down walls, creating a floor over previously open space to build a new closet; the complete remodelling of the en suite; the complete remodelling of the main bathroom; and a redesigned master bedroom.  Because I used Hampton Rowe, an independent designer, to create the look and feel of the renovation, I was concerned about the possibility of communication errors and/or ego-driven conflicts arising.  However, none of that occurred.  In fact, it was just the opposite!  Communication was seamless!  Riverside and Hampton worked cohesively, collaboratively and respectfully throughout the entire project.   Also, of particular note, in my opinion, is   Riverside’s use of the Co-Construct software application as a useful and helpful resource.  It was incredibly refreshing and quite assuring to be able to pose questions or share a concern and get a prompt, detailed and clear response in “written” form that was implemented exactly as described. I am unsure was to how long they have been using this tool.  In any case, if I had one recommendation, it would be to encourage RC to activate all modules within the app and ensure, in particular that the module related to invoicing and payments and change orders is fully operational and updated as quickly as possible to reflect when payments are made or change orders, and their associated costs are agreed upon.  This is NOT a criticism (!) – just a comment.  Finally, my son and I were often present in the home when work was being completed.  Everyone was respectful, cordial, and professional in their speech and conduct.  And, for a renovation of this size, the worksite was kept as clean as can be expected throughout the duration of the project.  I couldn’t be happier with the work that RC did for me.  I have been involved in other construction projects before. Not one of them ended as positively as this one did.  This renovation was a genuinely delightful experience for me. Exhausting, but delightful!  RC has a Project Manager role that is currently being fulfilled by an individual named Dave Humphrey. I don’t know if other companies do this, but, what I do know is that this role is an invaluable resource.  It was also remarkable to me that when staff vacations occurred, anyone who provided coverage was equally as knowledgeable and up-to-speed on the project as the main individual (e.g. Simon’s coverage of Joey’s time off).  From my perspective as a recent client, Greg Hassall’s ownership and leadership of Riverside Construction has resulted in a well-run, organized, professional company that produces quality, high-end renovations.  I emphatically support their bid to become Renovator of the Year.  If ever I am in a position in the future to complete further renovations of my home, I would not hesitate to use them again.
