OLD NORTH
A new look in Old North
Project Details
This Old North addition and full home renovation added significant living space while reworking the timeless features this century home. The two story addition boast over 1200 square feet of additional living space essentially doubling the size of the home. The existing house was gutted, layout was reworked, and all new finishes are featured throughout. An intense focus was given to designing a contemporary space which would stay true to the classic elements of a century home.
The once modest home now includes all the amenities of modern homes and more. It features a large open entertaining space with new kitchen and living room, private study, main floor powder room, second floor laundry, and four bedrooms including oversized primary suite.
The expanded main floor features an expansive kitchen and great room which is perfect for entertaining as well as daily family life. The open concept design includes a large kitchen with eat-in island and beverage centre which opens into the dining and large living room space, a private study, and the added powder room. Upgrades and design details are found on every surface and include natural oak strip flooring, hand made craftsman style trim, coffered ceilings, wall details and oversized fireplace with grand custom cabinet surround.
Moving to the second level, the fir stairs were refinished to match the flooring and enhanced with a contemporary runner. The second floor features the same natural oak flooring and hand made craftsman trim. Secondary bedrooms were reworked to allow for larger spaces. The addition space includes second floor laundry, and an oversized primary suite. The primary suite is a show stopper featuring his and her closets with custom closet solutions and an elegant ensuite. The ensuite stays true to the classic design with a hexagon mosaic tile floor, custom oak vanity, and a large custom curbless tile shower.
This timeless classic is an homage to the talented craftsmen who built this home over 100 years ago.
